Work in progress

This month I’ve been experimenting with collage based around the idea of wallpaper, using patterns and imagery from Westonbirt, a Grade 1 listed building, where I used to teach.

I was trying to capture the sense of place and age using colours and motifs that would remind people of old wallpaper. I placed pieces of one design over another to suggest ‘stripping’ wallpaper or remnants.

I also learned how to turn an image into digital embroidery, how to use a sewing machine and how to make a dye-sub print onto fabric; I made 3 different kinds of books, and visited the Anna Boghiguian exhibition at Tate St Ives.
