Since around 2008 I’ve been taking short courses in printmaking at various places around the UK including Glasgow School of Art and Edinburgh Printmakers with Alfons Bytautas. Nearer to home, I’ve been on great courses run by Nicola Slattery, Sue Drennen, Sue Brown, Sandra Porter and Gail Mason. I’ve also been on 2 courses on gum bichromate printmaking with Martyn Grimmer at Bristol Folk House that were hugely enjoyable and not just because of the cake.
I would say that I am still at the experimental stage of working out which techniques work best for me and for what I’d like to try and do: gum bichromate is probably the one I like best but I also enjoy messing around with paper stencils and my own version of screen printing [because I don’t have any screen printing kit]. Some of these are from 1976 when I did a foundation year.
